About Metabola
Metabola is a metabolic health laboratory for the curious.
It's run by Koon Seng — a technology risk leader with 30 years in enterprise engineering, a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified coach, and the author of The 10,000 Year Detour: How We Lost Our Metabolic Rhythm — and How to Find Our Way Back.
In late 2024, at 58 years old, Koon Seng's annual health screening returned sobering results: an HbA1c in the pre-diabetic range, Stage 2 hypertension, and severe obstructive sleep apnea. Metabolic syndrome. His doctor recommended medication.
He asked for time instead. Through a simultaneous intervention across diet, exercise, and sleep — tracked obsessively with continuous glucose monitoring, monthly blood panels, and wearable data — he reversed every marker without medication in four months.
Metabola is where that work continues. Part personal experiment log, part educational resource, part invitation to anyone who wants to approach their metabolic health with the same rigour they'd bring to any serious engineering challenge.
What you'll find here:
Lab notes from ongoing N=1 experiments. Protocols refined through data, not dogma. Deep dives into the science of metabolism, written for smart people who don't have a biochemistry degree. And the occasional field report from testing metabolic protocols in the real world — hawker centres, business dinners, and hotel gyms included.
If you're a busy professional watching your numbers creep in the wrong direction and wondering whether there's a better way — welcome to the lab.
Based in Singapore. Powered by data, black coffee, and stubbornness.
